San Diego Second Chance is commended for its
exemplary recidivism reduction program by the United States Senate.
The United States Senate Appropriations Committee highlighted the exemplary results of Second Chance's ground breaking Prisoner Reentry Employment Program (PREP) in its FY07 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Bill (S. 3708). The
language commends Second Chance and requires the Department of Labor to fully examine expanding and replicating the PREP program.
"The Committee commends the work of the Second Chance Program of San Diego for its exemplary recidivism reduction program. The State of California is particularly in need of reentry services, as it houses 40 percent of our Nation's
inmates. Second Chance is one of the STRIVE network of program affiliates previously supported by the Department. The Committee expects the Department to support Second Chance through funding to expand and replicate its recidivism
prevention program."
