In 2000, Larry found himself in a position to take a step back and assess himself... where he'd been, what he'd been doing and most importantly, where he was going.

Having voluntarily placed himself at the House of Metamorphosis (HOM), a drug treatment center, Larry was eventually presented the opportunity to move to another program and opted to join Second Chance/STRIVE. He was glad to see the diversity of individuals participating in the STRIVE program ranging from ex-offenders to recovering addicts to people who were simply down on their luck.

Larry graduated from STRIVE class #26 on August 25, 2000. His determination continued as he gained employment within one month of graduation working for Wal-Mart as an overnight stocker. This October will mark his 7-year anniversary working at Wal-Mart. During this time he has received numerous raises and praise from his employers.

Larry met his wife during his time at HOM and they have started the process of buying their first home together and recently purchased two new cars! Larry feels that he never had a lot of opportunity come his way earlier in his life but since making drastic changes he sees opportunity every day and is thankful for that.

Larry was determined to succeed and reflecting on his time at STRIVE he recalled that the trainers were hard on him but provided the help he needed through tough love and compassion. He knows that achieving the success he has had over the last seven years would not have been possible if it was not for the dedicated staff at the House of Metamorphosis and Second Chance.
