At Second Chance, we regularly evaluate the impact of the charitable dollars invested in our agency. Based on the most recent analysis of our 2006 program expenditures, we are
pleased to report that for each $1 invested in our programs, over $5 were returned to the community via taxes paid by our clients when they go to work, and through prevention of incarceration costs by helping the formally incarcerated to
become self-sufficient and remain out of prison. This constitutes a 500% "return on investment" for those investing in the work of Second Chance!
Please visit our website to view our 2007 Profiles of Success brochure and to see a breakdown of the numbers that created our "return on investment," as well as graduate profiles of success.
These results are the product of Second Chance's unique blend of programs and services for the disadvantaged. Last year we graduated over 475 adults from the STRIVE job readiness program and placed 284 homeless and unemployed persons into
new jobs. 156 former prisoners graduated from our ex-offender program and 500 Second Chance clients were placed in permanent affordable housing. In total, more than 4,000 adults and families living in poverty were served by Second Chance
last year.
Second Chance programs fight poverty and homelessness in our community, by offering motivated individuals the chance to turn their lives around, find a job and give back to San Diego. We would not be able to provide these services
if it was not for your ongoing support. We sincerely thank you and ask that as we move into the holiday season, to
please consider Second Chance in your holiday and year-end giving.
