LawSuits - Case Closed!
A big thank you to the San Diego law firms that participated in LawSuits, a friendly, competitive cash and clothing drive benefitting Second Chance. And thank you to District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis for serving as honorary chair of this event.
Second Chance creates opportunities for people to transform their own lives by fostering behavioral changes that promote personal responsibility, health relationships and positive contributions to society. We do this through programs that provide job readiness and life skills training, job placement, mental health and prisoner re-entry services, relapse prevention and sober-living housing for adults and youth in need.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the first annual LawSuits competition! The following firms took first place in their categories based on cash donations and the cash value of suits donated:
Mega Firms (250+): Office of the District Attorney
Large Firms (75-249): DLA Piper
Medium Firms (25 – 74): CaseyGerry
Small Firms (1 – 24): Meyers Fozi, LLP
Other participating law firms included: Gordon & Rees, LLP; Kimball, Tirey and St. John, LLP; and The Law Office of David Shapiro.
Robert Coleman, Executive Director of Second Chance, said, “The inaugural LawSuits competition was enormously successful. With the generous support of local law firms, we’ve been able to ensure we have professional clothing for all our clients, regardless of their income. I’d like to thank District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis for volunteering her time to chair this unique drive. And thank you to the participating firms for donating $64,325 in cash and in-kind gifts to Second Chance.”
In addition to complete suits, firms also donated professional clothing, such as blouses, dress shirts, blazers and shoes.
