Second chances rarely occur by chance. 

Second Chance services are given free to our clients. Contributions from individuals and organizations in the San Diego community are needed for us to continue to help people achieve self-sufficiency. Because Second Chance is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, all gifts are tax-deductible as permitted by law. 

Second Chance never solicits door-to-door for donations. If you are approached by an individual (adult or youth) soliciting cash donations or selling magazines or candy, they do not represent San Diego Second Chance.

Monetary Donations

This is the most immediate and impactful way in which to give to Second Chance.

Make a tax-deductible contribution by credit or debit card using our secure donation page.  Click on the Donate button to make an online secure donation.

Recurring Monthly Gift:
Is it easier for you to make a series of small gifts rather than one large one? Call Maureen at 619-839-0953 to set up an automatic monthly charge to your credit card of any amount.

Matching Gifts

Employer matching gift programs can double or even triple your donation to Second Chance. Your Human Resources Department will have information on your company’s guidelines. Many corporations use an online process; or you can send us the matching gift form along with your donation and we will handle the rest.

Planned Gifts

You can create a lasting legacy for your favorite charity by remembering Second Chance in your will or estate plans. Trusts, annuities, bequests, life insurance – there are many opportunities for supporting Second Chance, gaining tax benefits and still taking care of your heirs. Gifts of Real Estate

If you own property that is fully paid off and has appreciated in value, an outright gift to Second Chance may be the simplest solution.  You can deduct the fair market value of your gift, avoid all capital gains taxes and remove that asset from your taxable estate. You can transfer the deed of your home or land to Second Chance now and keep the right to use the property for your lifetime and that of your spouse.

Your property opens the door to a unique giving opportunity: donate the property to Second Chance, either now or whenever you no longer need it.  You can give the property outright, place it in trust, retain the use of it for life or give it by will.  All of these methods will enable you to enjoy personal financial benefits while supporting our work in a meaningful way.
