Special Delivery!

Early in the morning on June 15, Amazon Logistics area manager Ladonna Wingfield and her team delivered eight dryers and three washers to the sober living houses. “We are so grateful for these appliances,” said Senior Housing Manager Alex Macias.  “We are also so glad to have started this incredible relationship with Ladonna and her team!”

Each of the appliances were dropped off at the sober living homes. Having multiple, reliable washers and dryers are so important for our sober living residents. Being able to take care of their laundry in a predictable, routine way provides additional stability and ensures they are ready for whatever opportunity comes their way.

Thank you again to Amazon, LaDonna and the Logistics Team for coordinating with Second Chance to make this donation happen and brighten the days of our residents.

*We are always in need of additional hygiene products for our program participants – especially in the sober living homes. Please see our Volunteer Opportunities flyer for information on how to host a hygiene drive, or donate individual items *

Dedicate your donation to a Mother in your life. After your donation, Click the “I would like to dedicate” box and then write the name and tribute in the “Gift Notes” to a mom.

Employer Spotlight

Second Chance counts on dedicated employer partners, who hire hundreds of Second Chance graduates every year. We recognize their efforts in providing opportunities for the people we serve, and this month's spotlight is dedicated to Employer Partner, Framing Associates.

Debra McDowell, CEO of Framing Associates, has been a valued partner of Second Chance 's over the years.  JRT grads employed at Framing Associates have adapted new skills, worked diligently and shown pride in what they do.

One participant, Jose Barreto, went from a laborer, picking up scrap material and knocking off bracing with a hammer, to present day being an apprentice carpenter. “Mr. Barreto performs such work as most skilled carpenters do with decades of experience. It’s amazing how Mr. Barreto can perform any task thrown his way!” said McDowell.

Thank you, Framing Associates, for giving career opportunities to our participants and providing them with the knowledge that a great company believes in their success!
